Troubleshooting for Common Faults of Network Cameras

Source:Shenzhen Kai Mo Rui Electronic Technology Co. LTD2026-09-22

Products combining network‑encoding modules and analog cameras, which were popular years ago, are rarely seen on today’s market. Authorized users can control pan‑tilt‑zoom actions of camera lenses or modify system configurations. Network cameras enable simplified surveillance deployment, especially for remote monitoring. They feature easier installation and maintenance, superior audio support, reliable alarm linkage, flexible video recording and storage, abundant product options, high‑definition video output and optimized surveillance management. What are the common faults encountered while using network cameras and how should they be resolved? Below is a guide shared by the editorial team of Kaimorui.

Solutions to Common Network Camera Faults

Failing to locate the IP address of the network camera

First verify the network cable connection and power supply. If the camera’s IP address still cannot be detected after confirmation, check whether the camera’s network segment matches that of your computer. If they differ, modify the network segment setting of the network camera to align with your computer’s network segment. Your computer will then be able to discover the camera’s IP address.

Failure to play video normally

Close all browser windows. Locate and delete the following files under the operating‑system directory: NetClient.dll, NetViewX.cab and NetViewX.ocx. Reconnect to the network camera via your browser, and the browser will prompt you to reinstall the playback control. If video playback still fails, add the IP address or network segment of the network camera to trusted sites in your browser. Adjust relevant security options and set them to Enable or Prompt.

Errors occurring when accessing the network camera

Clear your browser cache. Procedures are as follows: Open the browser, select Tools — Internet Options. Under the section for Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button. Tick the checkbox for Delete all offline content and click OK. Log in to the network camera again.

Failed login via client software or web‑based interface

ActiveX controls may be blocked under Windows XP SP2. If a system pop‑up blocks control installation during web‑control setup, adjust your Internet Explorer settings. Open Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options and select Custom Level. Set both Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe and Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Prompt. Save settings and restart Internet Explorer. Disable control‑blocking utilities such as 3721 Internet Assistant or personal firewalls before attempting to log in again. Please use Internet Explorer for login instead of other web browsers.

The above covers typical faults of network cameras together with corresponding countermeasures. We hope this material proves helpful. Should you have further questions regarding network‑camera malfunctions, please feel free to contact our technical staff.
