Chromatic aberration is a serious defect in lens imaging. Simply put, it refers to color discrepancy. It occurs under polychromatic‑light light sources and does not appear with monochromatic light. Visible light covers wavelengths from approximately 400 to 700 nanometers. Light of different wavelengths carries different colors and features varying refractive indices when passing through a lens. Consequently, a single point on the object side may form a color spot on the image side. What causes color deviation? Below is an analysis shared by the editorial team at Kaimorui.

Causes of Color Deviation in Network Cameras:

1. Malfunctions in the lens’s inherent color‑reproduction performance. This may result from the end of service life, or the use of defective or low‑cost lenses.
2. Circuit faults in connecting cables between the network camera and monitor (or between the lens and video recorder). Examples include strong power‑supply interference and broken cable connectors, which lead to unstable video transmission signals.
3. Color temperature is affected by geography, seasons, ground conditions, weather, time of day and other factors. A wide variety of artificial light sources also deliver different color‑temperature values.
4. Network cameras produce favorable images under sufficient light intensity. As illuminance (light intensity) drops, image quality degrades, mainly manifested by increasing noise grains and blurred pictures (e.g., image changes captured by cameras at dusk).

The above covers the analysis of color‑deviation causes for network cameras. Objects reflect light at different intensities and with different color temperatures, which may trigger imaging deviations. For network cameras working under auto‑white‑balance mode, color cast will occur when there is a lack of white reference in the scene.
