Sony announced on December 6, 2016 that they will launch the medical 4K camera "MCC-S40MD" that can take high-precision imaging of the field of view of the surgical site. MCC-S40MD is equipped with a 1.0-type inside-illuminated CMOS image sensor and Sony’s original graphics processing engine, capable of shooting high-definition 4K resolution images. In addition, the MCC-S40MD also uses a 12x optical zoom large-aperture lens, and is also equipped with a "Clear Image Zoom" function, which can minimize image quality damage.
It achieves 20x zoom, and can take high-definition shooting of the details of the surgical site and dark places. Sony said it hopes that this new camera can be used in medical education and postoperative verification. The MCC-S40MD will be officially launched on March 1, 2017, and the specific price has not yet been disclosed. However, industry insiders speculate that this camera will be sold in conjunction with a three-axis pan/tilt or controller, and the package price is about 2.8 million yen (about 170,000 yuan).
