As embedded vision devices continue to evolve toward miniaturization, miniaturized zoom devices such as airborne pods, micro gimbals, vehicle-mounted forensic recorders, and portable inspection probes have long been caught in a dilemma: Traditional zoom lenses are bulky and difficult to fit into compact housings; zoom performance suffers, making it impossible to simultaneously achieve wide-angle panoramas and detailed close-up views at long distances; image quality significantly degrades under complex outdoor lighting conditions; and protocol incompatibilities among different devices lead to time-consuming and labor-intensive integration and debugging. Kaimei Rui is focusing on miniature zoom imaging technology and proudly introduces the CM8210AT integrated miniaturized zoom module. With its compact hardware design, 10x optical zoom capability, all-weather image processing algorithms, and full-protocol automatic adaptation, this module addresses industry challenges across four key areas—hardware, optics, image quality, and integration—providing a stable and reliable high-definition visual core for a wide range of small-scale observation devices.

I. Compact industrial housing, perfectly suited for mini-zoom lenses in tight installation spaces.
The primary bottleneck in the development of miniaturized zoom devices lies in the extremely limited internal installation space. The size and weight of the movement directly determine the cost of the overall mechanical design. The KEMORE CM8210AT employs a highly integrated, precision sheet-metal structure, with an overall device dimension of 43.6 mm.×45.5×75.4Hmm, weighing just 150g, the board measures 38mm × 38mm and features pre-installed standard mounting holes with a diameter of 22.8mm. It can be directly integrated into drone pods, vehicle-mounted observation modules, miniature visual gimbals, and portable inspection devices without requiring any modifications to the housing mold—effectively shortening the project development cycle and reducing hardware modification costs. The entire unit employs an industrially-rated, weather-resistant hardware design and supports a wide voltage range of DC 7V to 15V. Its continuous operating power consumption is kept below 5W, ensuring that it won’t overload the power supply of portable devices. The operating temperature range spans from -20℃ to 60℃, allowing the mechanism to run smoothly and seamlessly—even in extreme conditions such as high-altitude cold environments, intense summer sunlight, bumpy vehicle rides, or damp outdoor settings—without any stuttering or lag during zoom operations. Compared to conventional consumer-grade cameras, this mechanism is specifically designed for prolonged, uninterrupted zoom observation. Its lightweight and low-power characteristics make it an ideal match for miniaturized zoom applications like drone payloads and portable field inspections, perfectly addressing the endurance requirements of these scenarios.
II. Ten-times hybrid optical zoom—small lens delivers both wide-angle panoramas and detailed close-ups of distant scenes.
Zoom capability is the core competitive advantage of mini zoom devices. The CM8210AT is equipped with... 4.7-47The mm professional optical lens delivers a hybrid zoom solution featuring 10x lossless optical zoom combined with 12x digital zoom, effectively eliminating image blurring and detail loss that often result from pure digital magnification. The lens is equipped with an F1.6–F3.0 variable aperture, allowing for smooth switching between horizontal viewing angles ranging from 60.9° to 6.4°. In wide-angle mode, the lens can fully capture the entire working area, while in telephoto mode, it can precisely lock onto tiny targets at long distances. With a minimum focusing distance as close as 1mm, this lens enables both large-scale inspections and highly precise close-up examinations. The zoom speed is adjustable across 0–7 levels, providing flexible adaptation to either mobile tracking or fixed-point inspection tasks. The camera module features a 1/3-inch progressive-scan CMOS sensor that outputs 2.3-megapixel 1080P full HD video with a resolution of up to 1000 TVL. It supports dual signal formats—AHD and TVI—and allows free switching among multiple resolutions. In mini-zoom applications such as drone-based power line inspections, vehicle-mounted mobile forensics, and micro-scale industrial flaw detection, there’s no need to move the entire device; instead, you can complete comprehensive area scans and detailed local magnifications simply by adjusting the zoom, significantly boosting the efficiency of lightweight observation equipment.

III. Intelligent image enhancement algorithm ensures clear and stable mini-zoom footage at all times.
The vast majority of mini zoom devices are deployed in outdoor mobile environments, where backlighting, dense fog, day-night transitions, and camera shake can severely degrade image quality. The CM8210AT is equipped with a comprehensive suite of intelligent image-processing algorithms that deliver all-weather image-quality optimization, ensuring that zoomed observations always remain clear and crisp. In low-light conditions, the color mode achieves a minimum illumination level of 0.2 Lux; when switched to the DSS black-and-white mode, the sensitivity drops as low as 0.005 Lux. Combined with the automatic switching of the ICR infrared filter, no additional supplemental lighting is required for scenarios such as dawn and dusk or enclosed spaces with zero light. The three key features—3D digital noise reduction, electronic image stabilization, and intelligent defogging—work synergistically to counteract image jitter caused by drone flight or vehicle movement, enabling clear and accurate restoration of target outlines even in hazy or foggy weather. The device supports manual and automatic aperture control, multi-level gain adjustment, multiple white-balance settings, and a wide dynamic range from 0 to 4 levels. It also integrates advanced light suppression and backlight compensation, effortlessly handling challenging lighting conditions such as backlit aerial photography and evidence collection on brightly lit road surfaces. Additionally, the device offers extended features including motion detection, 8-zone privacy masking, image flipping, and parameter overlay with text annotations. Its sensitivity is adjustable across 20 levels, and it features a multilingual graphical user interface. Debugging personnel can directly overlay temperature readings, zoom magnification ratios, and device IDs onto the zoomed image, making small-terminal debugging simpler and more efficient.
IV. Fully automatic protocol recognition, effortlessly achieving seamless integration of multiple devices with mini-zoom functionality.
Incompatibility of camera module protocols has long been a major obstacle to the integration of small-scale visual devices. When different brands of encoding boards and pan-tilt units are connected, extensive parameter adjustments are often required, significantly prolonging the project implementation cycle. The CM8210AT features a built-in, all-standard automatic recognition system that natively supports SONY-VISCA, Hikvision network port pass-through, Pelco-D/P, and Camray’s proprietary CM protocol. After power-on, it automatically matches the connected front-end device, enabling seamless image output without any manual configuration—thus dramatically lowering the integration threshold. The hardware control interface includes multiple channels—TTL/RS232/RS485/IO—and allows users to customize communication parameters: 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and a baud rate range spanning over 2400 to 115,200 levels. Additionally, the device ID supports networking management across 0–255 groups, enabling synchronized zoom control for multiple camera modules. It can seamlessly replace Sony’s FCB series camera modules, connect with Hikvision and other domestically produced VISCA-compatible devices, and is suitable for miniature smart pan-tilt units, distributed monitoring probes, and portable remote observation systems. Moreover, it supports remote transmission of zoom commands from drone ground stations, in-vehicle central controls, and industrial vision host computers, facilitating stable cross-platform integration and coordination.
