The vast coastline stretching for thousands of miles and the expansive nearshore waters under maritime control serve as the frontline defense for national security. Maritime navigation management and coastal border patrols have long been confronted with complex marine challenges: the sea surface is perpetually shrouded in mist, and there’s a dramatic contrast between morning and evening light conditions. Sea waves and winds cause intense vessel motion, while small, fast boats operating at long distances and illegal landings by unauthorized personnel are extremely difficult to identify. Consequently, hidden risks such as human smuggling, contraband trafficking, and illegal fishing are hard to detect in advance. Traditional surveillance cameras suffer from limited zoom capabilities, blurry low-light imaging, weak anti-shake performance, and a lack of intelligent risk-assessment functions—making it impossible to meet the urgent demands of 24-hour, long-distance, high-precision law enforcement and evidence collection in maritime defense. The Kaimor CM8430EM 4-megapixel camera module, featuring a 30x optical zoom, is specially designed to address the unique operational conditions of maritime border defense. Relying on four core capabilities—professional optical imaging systems, rugged hardware resistant to harsh environments, AI-powered intelligent analysis, and full-platform compatibility—it builds an integrated, visualized security system that spans both land and sea, providing stable and reliable high-definition visual support for maritime law enforcement and border patrol duties.

I. Starlight-level ultra-high-definition optical system, ICR day-and-night switching for penetrating sea fog and long-distance detection.

The greatest challenge in maritime surveillance lies in complex lighting conditions and low-visibility environments. Conventional equipment suffers from issues such as blurred images at long focal lengths, washed-out visuals in foggy weather, and an inability to detect subtle targets at night—severely limiting the efficiency of coastal defense patrols. The CM8430EM is equipped with a 6.5–195mm 30x optical zoom lens, paired with a 1/1.8-inch STARVIS starlight sensor and an F1.5 large-aperture lens, addressing nearshore observation challenges at the hardware level. It delivers outstanding low-light imaging performance: in color mode, it can capture images at as low as 0.001 lux, and in black-and-white mode, down to 0.0005 lux. Even on moonless nights or during dim early-morning hours when the sea surface is barely illuminated, it still produces richly layered color images, enabling clear identification of unmarked speedboats and small smuggling vessels from several kilometers away without the need for additional infrared illumination. Built-in ICR infrared filter automatic switching module ensures seamless adaptation to varying lighting conditions—automatically switching between imaging modes for sunrise/sunset backlight scenarios and strong reflections off water surfaces—thus eliminating haloing and overexposure while maintaining accurate color reproduction during daylight and exceptional detail capture at night. To address the frequent occurrence of advection fog and thin sea mist along coastlines, the device incorporates an advanced electronic anti-fog algorithm, combined with three powerful image optimization technologies: wide dynamic range, strong light suppression, and backlight compensation. These features effectively mitigate the disruptive effects of fog scattering, allowing users to clearly distinguish ship types, hull numbers, and even the movements of personnel on deck from afar. With an ultra-fast 3.5-second zoom response, the camera swiftly switches between wide-angle and telephoto views, ensuring continuous tracking of high-speed motorboats and floating debris at sea without any image interruptions. Adhering to the IEC international DORI ranging standard, this device can detect maritime targets at distances up to 2,690 meters and accurately identify human figures and vessel characteristics from as close as 538 meters, supporting routine long-range patrol and evidence-gathering operations.

II. Dual-stabilization and temperature-control technology, capable of withstanding extreme operating conditions along coastal areas characterized by high turbulence and wide temperature fluctuations.

Coastal cloud platforms, offshore buoys, and law enforcement vessels equipped with surveillance systems continuously face winds of Force 6 or higher.Shanghai’s windy and vibrating environment, coupled with extreme temperature differences between winter and summer and a highly corrosive atmosphere characterized by high salinity and humidity, often cause conventional camera mechanisms to suffer from long-focus image shake, temperature-induced focus shifts, and the loss of critical law-enforcement footage. The CM8430EM is equipped with dual-dimensional environmental adaptation technology, making it ideal for outdoor maritime security deployments in all scenarios. First, it features an enhanced gyroscopic electronic image stabilization system. When mounted on patrol boats, coastal high-tower pan-tilt units, or marine buoy pods, this system can instantly counteract horizontal and vertical vibrations caused by hull sway and high-speed pan-tilt movements, ensuring stable, blur-free images even when zooming in on distant suspicious targets. This eliminates the risk of losing track of vessel movements due to shaky footage. Second, the camera incorporates a lens temperature-compensation focusing module that automatically corrects for focal length shifts caused by thermal expansion and contraction across a wide temperature range—from the frigid -30°C winters along the coast to the scorching 60°C summers. This ensures consistently sharp images throughout, preventing issues such as focus loss in high temperatures and blurring in low temperatures. The entire device boasts a lightweight design weighing just 330 grams and measures 97×52×60 mm, making it compatible with lightweight border-defense pan-tilt systems and small airborne pods for marine applications. Its stepper motor has an exceptionally long service life of up to one million cycles, perfectly suited for high-frequency zoom tracking scenarios in anti-smuggling operations and near-shore drone detection. The device operates reliably within an extended temperature range of -30°C to 60°C, effortlessly enduring the corrosive effects of coastal salt spray and high humidity, significantly reducing equipment replacement costs and routine maintenance expenses.

III. Deep Learning IVS Intelligent Algorithms: Unattended, Automatic Prediction of Maritime Safety Risks

Traditional maritime defense relies on human operators monitoring screens around the clock. With long coastlines and wide waterways, numerous surveillance blind spots exist, and manual patrols often suffer from delayed responses. The CM8430EM is equipped with a comprehensive IVS intelligent analysis algorithm that enables unattended, proactive alerting, thus establishing a forward-looking maritime risk prevention and control system. At the perimeter control level, it supports functions such as electronic tripwires, area intrusion detection, and boundary-crossing alerts. Virtual electronic fences can be set up along territorial waters boundaries and coastal vigilance zones. When speedboats or unidentified floating objects enter the controlled areas, the system immediately triggers an alert and sends a notification to the backend platform, allowing for rapid interception of illegal migrants and smugglers. Behavior recognition covers prolonged loitering by shore-based personnel, high-speed vessel passages, unauthorized vessel stays, and abandoned floating debris at sea, accurately identifying illegal activities such as illegal fishing, unauthorized landings, and improper moorings. Powered by a deep-learning multi-target recognition model, the system can autonomously distinguish between nearshore fishing vessels, suspicious speedboats, and maritime fire sources, while simultaneously detecting gatherings of people and unauthorized vehicles along the coast. Once a maritime fire or the landing of unknown individuals—a potential hazard—is detected, the system instantly issues an alarm and simultaneously records high-definition evidence footage. The intelligent zoom-tracking function automatically adjusts the magnification and continuously tracks the target once locked, preventing suspicious vessels from slipping out of surveillance range and giving maritime police and law enforcement officers ample time to respond effectively.

IV. Supports full protocol adaptation for dual-channel image output, enabling seamless integration with existing coastal defense and control platforms.

The maritime border defense system features complex and outdated equipment. The legacy VTS vessel traffic system and the integrated border security platform use incompatible protocols, and retrofitting new surveillance devices to ensure compatibility comes at a high cost. The CM8430EM innovatively adopts dual independent output channels—MIPI plus network—enabling simultaneous real-time in-flight video transmission and unified scheduling on remote platforms. The network port supports 10/100M adaptive transmission, delivering stable 4MP@60fps high-definition video suitable for long-distance fiber-optic cable deployments along coastlines. Meanwhile, MIPI’s lossless high-frame-rate output makes it ideal for mounting on-board visual equipment for maritime drones and small law-enforcement vessels, enabling coordinated air-and-sea patrols across all operational areas. The device is fully compatible with VISCA and PELCO pan-tilt control protocols, as well as national standards GB28181 and ONVIF, and supports HTTP CGI third-party interfaces. It can be directly integrated into maritime vessel management systems and smart border defense platforms without requiring additional secondary development. Local storage supports up to a 1TB MicroSD card for continuous loop recording, paired with FTP and NAS remote backups to ensure complete preservation of evidence throughout the entire maritime incident. Equipped with multi-layered cybersecurity protections—including IP/MAC access filtering, HTTPS encrypted transmission, and hierarchical permission management—this device provides robust safeguards against unauthorized access and data leaks, firmly protecting the integrity and security of maritime surveillance footage and early-warning data.

Safeguard a vast expanse of sea and fortify the nation’s frontier. The KaiMoRui CM8430EM high-definition zoom module boasts four core advantages—penetrating optical imaging, extreme environmental resilience around the clock, AI-powered proactive intelligent alerts, and seamless compatibility across all systems—that collectively address industry pain points such as long-distance maritime border patrols, day-and-night surveillance, wind-and-wave stabilization, and multi-device coordination. It provides comprehensive coverage for diverse scenarios including coastal port monitoring, nearshore navigation route patrols, border coastline guard duty, and offshore platform security.
