About ONVIF
In May 2008, Axis Communications, Bosch and Sony jointly founded an international open forum for developing standard network interfaces of IP video products — ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum). Guided by the principles of transparency and openness, the alliance develops open industry standards.
The ONVIF standard defines common protocols for information exchange between network video devices, covering device discovery, real-time video, audio, metadata and control commands. The diverse capabilities enabled by network video products allow end users, system integrators, consultants and manufacturers to easily reap benefits, including cost-effective and more flexible solutions, opportunities for market expansion and reduced risks.
Mission: The mission of ONVIF is to provide and promote standardized interfaces for interoperability of network-based physical security products.Vision: Shared interfaces for all security systems.
