Small ways to strengthen WIFI coverage

1. For the WiFi5 standard router, when we connect to the WiFi router, there will be two frequency bands for us to choose, one is 5.0GHz, the other is 2.4GHz. If you want to use a high-speed WiFi network, you naturally have to choose 5.0GHz, which has a wider bandwidth, uses 22 channels, and has a clean wireless environment with less interference.
But if you only want a long distance, you need to choose 2.4GHz, which has a low signal frequency, less attenuation when propagating in the air or obstacles, can propagate farther, and has a wider coverage than 5.0GHz. Since the first generation of WiFi (802.11), there has been a 2.4GHz frequency band. By the way, it is worth noting that many electronic devices also use the 2.4GHz frequency band, which causes 2.4GHz to be easily interfered and the signal is naturally bad.
2. The range of WiFi coverage is also closely related to the transmit power of the router. The greater the transmit power, the greater the coverage of WiFi and the longer the transmission distance.
Sometimes, we will see router manufacturers trying to render the advantages of multiple antennas. In the case of a certain transmit power, increasing the number of antennas can indeed increase the transmission distance of wireless signals, but the increased range is not large. To increase the coverage of WiFi, a router with multiple antennas is also a good choice.
4. In addition to considering the ability of the router itself, we also need to consider a problem, the actual use.
The WiFi signal we often talk about is actually a kind of electromagnetic wave. What are the characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation in space? It will be interfered by objects in life and cause signal attenuation. When passing through glass, walls, doors or furniture, the attenuation effect is different.
Generally speaking, WiFi signals are attenuated by 8-15dB through ordinary brick walls, attenuated by 15-30dB through reinforced concrete walls, and attenuated by 10dB through thick glass (12mm).
5. Considering this problem, if you want to increase the coverage of WiFi, it is better to be in an open place, and the signal quality of the WiFi antenna can be very good.
In addition to the router itself, we can actually expand the WiFi range through bridges and repeaters. Therefore, the method of bridging is not difficult. There are a bunch of online tutorials, and the principle is not difficult to understand. It is to connect a router to the main router and use the external router to expand the coverage.
Repeaters are also very easy to buy. The principle is not difficult to understand, which is to retransmit the received signal to achieve signal relay and amplification. Both of these methods can expand the WiFi coverage. I have to remind you that your own WiFi broadband must be sufficient.
