Usage Tips for Infrared Thermal Imager

Source:Shenzhen Kai Mo Rui Electronic Technology Co. LTD2026-10-09

The working principle of an infrared thermal imager is based on infrared imaging technology. It captures thermal images showing objects of varying temperatures, so that the exact position of the target object can be identified from the thermal images. As long as an object generates heat, researchers can capture its infrared thermal image with this device. What usage tips are there? Today, the editor from Kaimorui will share some practical tips with you.

The usage tips for infrared thermal imagers are as follows:

Temperature‑measurement Range

To obtain accurate temperature readings, always set the correct temperature‑measurement range. Fine‑tuning the instrument’s temperature span while observing the target will deliver optimal image quality. This also affects the quality of temperature curves and temperature‑measurement accuracy.

Focus Adjustment

You may adjust image curves after saving an infrared image, yet you cannot refocus or eliminate unwanted thermal reflections once the image is stored. Correct on‑site operation at the very beginning helps avoid field errors. Adjust the focus carefully. If over‑hot or over‑cold reflections from above or around the target interfere with measurement accuracy, try adjusting the focus or measuring angle to reduce or eliminate such reflections.

Keep the Instrument Steady During Measurement

For best results, keep the instrument as steady as possible when freezing and recording images. Press the save button gently and smoothly. Even slight shaking of the device may result in blurry images.

Measuring Distance

If the instrument is too far from the target, the target will appear tiny. The measured temperature will fail to reflect the true temperature of the target object, for the thermal imager will average temperatures of both the target and its surrounding environment.

Infrared thermal imagers are easy to operate and practically ready‑to‑use. With such devices, all inspectors can spot invisible defects or hazards from a safe distance.
