As many of our regular users know, once our RTSP/ONVIF streaming server establishes network connectivity with the camera, the built-in ONVIF discovery function of the RTSP/ONVIF streaming server can detect the IP address of ONVIF cameras. After successful detection, it returns the required stream address and enables PTZ pan-tilt-zoom control of the camera, including rotation, zoom and other operations. So what are the methods to enable the ONVIF protocol on Hikvision cameras? Today, the editor from Kaimorui will walk you through them.

For newly released Hikvision cameras, the ONVIF function is disabled by default. Therefore, if you want to add the camera to other devices or clients via the ONVIF protocol, you need to turn on the ONVIF feature.

There are three ways to enable the ONVIF function:

1. Enable via the iVMS-4200 PC client;
2. Enable by accessing the camera’s web interface through a PC browser;
3. Enable using the Batch Configuration Tool.

Take configuration via PC browser as an example:

1. Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings > Integration Protocol, enable ONVIF or enable the open network video interface.
2. Click Add, and select Administrator as the user type. (The differences among Video User, Operator and Administrator are defined by ONVIF specifications.)
3. After completing the settings, add the camera on the NVR. Note that you must use the username and password of the newly created ONVIF or open network video interface account.
